4 Eternity Not - A Haiku - Tue 25 Jan 2011

All comes to an end.
Even that rock you sit on
will erode away.

Inspired by Sunday Scribblings (#251 - Eternity).

Patrick Moore, the astronomer, told us: 'Nothing lasts forever, perhaps not even the universe itself'. He was talking about the sun; it's the same for your rock.

There are things that last. I believe that but they are not made of rocks and wood and plastic.

Lovely haiku.

Nice. I also like your Einstein quote about infinity!

Thanks everyone for your comments :)

My haiku is not meant to be a downer, saying that nothing lasts so all is hopeless. I think of it as life-affirming, a reminder that everything is in a state of transient impermanence and that the things we do today won't be remembered in 1000 years, or even 100 years. Don't be afraid to live the way you want to; to do the things you want to do even if they're not "popular".

I know it's a message of which I have to remind myself regularly :)
